NYPD cop charged with DWI after accident

An off-duty NYPD detective with 28 years on job was caught boozing behind the wheel in Bensonhurst, cops said.

Detective James Nash, 53, was on Quinten Road and West Fifth Street in Brooklyn around 5:45 p.m. Wednesday when he got into a minor car accident, according to police.

When cops responded to the scene, they suspected that he’d had been drinking and asked him to take a Breathalyzer test, officials said.

He refused, police said.

He was charged with DWI and refusal to take the test.

There were no reported injuries.
