For the first time since losing part of her left leg in the Boston Marathon bombing, professional ballroom dancer Adrianne Haslet-Davis danced on a stage Wednesday.
Haslet-Davis, 33, shed a tear as she showcased her skills and sashayed on a new prosthetic limb to a sultry Enrique Iglesias tune Wednesday while wearing a sparkling white dress at a TED conference in Vancouver, Canada.
“I’m thrilled to have danced again,” Haslet-Davis said. “I was always determined to dance again, and I knew that I had to, that I would — and here I am.”
The director of biomechatronics at MIT told the Technology, Entertainment and Design Conference about visiting Haslet-Davis in the hospital and designing the leg specifically for her so she could dance again.

Haslet-Davis will take the biggest step of all in her inspiring recovery when she appears later this year on “Dancing with the Stars.”
