Vandal wanted for spray painting obscenities in Met Opera house

A vandal is wanted for spray painting obscenities on sculptures and paintings inside of the Metropolitan Opera house at Lincoln Center, cops said.

The suspect graffitied the offices sometime between 7:15 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. Wednesday, according to police.

It appears to be an inside job stemming from labor issues at the opera house, a police source said.

The vandalism doesn’t appear to be biased in nature, cops said.

“Early this morning, some administrative offices at the Metropolitan Opera house were vandalized with spray paint. There was little or no permanent damage. The New York City Police department is investigating. We have no further comment at this time,” said a spokesperson for the Metropolitan Opera.

There are no arrests at this time.

The vandalism comes after the Met’s recent decision to cancel a simulcast of its performance of “The Death of Klinghoffer” out of fear it could fan a wave of anti-Semitism across the world.
