Yankees get 5-foot-10 lefty ‘project’ for Eduardo Nunez

The Yankees sent Eduardo Nunez to the Twins Monday for 20-year-old lefty Miguel Sulbaran.

Nunez, who was designated for assignment before the season opened, was beaten out for backup infielder’s spots by Dean Anna and Yangervis Solarte.

According to a scout, the 5-foot-10 Sulbaran is a “developmental project’’ whose fastball is between 89 and 92 mph. He throws strikes and also features a slider and changeup.

In 55 career minor league games with the Dodgers and Twins, Sulbaran is 21-10 with a 3.15 ERA and has yet to pitch above Single-A, where he started this season.

In 270 career games with the Yankees, Nunez hit .267 (201-for-752) with 10 homers, 76 RBIs and 48 stolen bases.
