A 20-year-old man who followed home a woman who fled after her car struck his in a minor accident in Queens early yesterday was beaten with a bat by the woman, police said yesterday.
Szymon Zakewicz suffered serious head trauma, but is expected to survive, police said.
The woman, Yvette Ortiz, 31, was charged with assault and leaving the scene of the accident.
Her boyfriend, Ernesto Montalvo, 37, who originally confronted the victim with the bat, was charged with assault and menacing.
Police said Ortiz and Zakewicz got into an accident at 4:40 a.m. in Ridgewood. Ortiz then fled in her car, followed by Zakewicz in his.
When Zakewicz confronted Ortiz in front of her Madison Street home, she ran inside and got her boyfriend, who came out with a baseball bat, police said.
During the ensuing argument, police said, Ortiz grabbed the bat from Montalvo and struck the victim.
