HBO to co-produce miniseries of J.K. Rowling’s ‘Casual Vacancy’

HBO will co-produce the BBC minseries adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s novel “The Casual Vacancy.”

“Casual Vacancy” — the first adult novel from the Harry Potter author — centers on a seemingly idyllic English village whose residents are at war with each other. The book has sold more than six million copies since its publication in 2012.

The three-part miniseries will be produced by Rowling’s company Bronte Film and Television and written by Sarah Phelps (“EastEnders”). Production begins this summer in southwest England.
