Two female drug mules for a major trafficking ring were busted ​in the Bronx​ with a whopping $5 million in heroin, authorities ​announced Thursday.
Cops spotted Carmen Garcia, 29, pull up to a suspected heroin packaging location near Creston Avenue and 180th Street. She hopped out of her car and into a parked van.
A few moments later, Rosa Vasquez, 24, climbed into the back seat with a large black duffle bag.
The pair drove to a parking garage at 1752 Morris Ave​. and when they tried to leave​,​ agents swooped in and nabbed them, authorities said.
Inside the duffle bag were four shrink-wrapped bricks of heroin – each containing $25,000 glassines of street-ready smack. In a hidden compartment in the van, authorities also found 15 more bricks and 2.2 lbs of raw heroin, court papers state.
More than $5,000 in cash was seized from the Bronx apartment the women share at 1055 Boston Road.
They were each charged with two counts of felony criminal possession of a controlled substance in Manhattan Criminal Court.
The investigation was conducted by the the city’s Office for the Special Narcotics Prosecutor, ​the ​NYPD, ​the ​DEA and state police.
