SECURITY BREACH AT POLICE HQ

Security has been beefed up at One Police Plaza after two people walked past guards and entered the police command center during last week’s blackout, police sources said.

The duo had real-looking NYPD photo IDs and were waved through by security officers, said sources.

They mingled with high ranking officers dealing with the blackout before cops came suspicious.

The two were briefly detained as security officers checked ID photos on file in the building.

They turned out to be members of a program aimed at encouraging young people to pursue police careers.

The pair was not charged – but now headquarters security officers are checking both sides of ID cards whenever anyone enters the building.
