MIKE WOULD BET A BILLION ON PREZ RUN

If Mayor Bloomberg were to run for president, he would spend $1 billion on the campaign, his chief political adviser said in a published report yesterday.

“This is a billion-dollar campaign,” Kevin Sheekey told Newsweek while flying aboard Bloomberg’s Falcon 9 jet from Washington, D.C., to Seattle last week.

Sheekey quickly hedged: “If it happens, it’s a billion-dollar campaign.”

Just last week, Bloomberg was again adamant that he was not running for president when CNN’s Wolf Blitzer asked for a lock-safe “won’t run, won’t accept any nomination” guarantee from him.

Bloomberg, as he always does, refused to go that far, but again repeated that he was not currently running and didn’t plan to run and that he was focused on being the mayor.

Explaining what he called “The Sheekey Master Plan,” Sheekey told the magazine that the “hour of decision” for Bloomberg won’t come until March 5, after the Texas primary as the GOP race begins to settle down.
