LIVERY CAB CRASHES INTO WASHINGTON HEIGHTS FLORIST SHOP

A livery cab was struck by a van in Washington Heights this afternoon and sent careening into a florist shop, narrowly missing a female pedestrian in its path, witnesses and police sources said.

“I said, ‘Oh my God! It’s going to hit her! It’s going to hit her!'” recounted Michael Doss, a deliveryman for Olympia Florists, who witnessed the out-of-control livery car slamming into the front of the shop, where it knocked out a front window.

The 3 p.m. drama occurred as the livery car headed south on Broadway and was hit by the white minivan as it apparently made a U-turn at West 158 Street, sources said.

The impact caused the livery-car driver to lose to control of his vehicle and slam into the shop, narrowly missing the female pedestrian.

The crash crushed the woman’s shopping cart. She fell to the ground but was not seriously injured, sources said.

“If she did not jump, she would have been killed,” Doss said.

Neither the cab driver nor his passenger were seriously injured, police and witnesses said. The van’s driver and his three passengers were not hurt, either, they added. Cops did not charge either of the drivers in the incident, sources said.
