Eric Decker visiting Jets on Day 2 on free agency

The Jets were quiet on Day 1 of free agency, but they could make some noise on Day 2.

Free-agent wide receiver Eric Decker is visiting the Jets on Wednesday, according to a source. Decker is considered the top receiver of this free-agent class.

Decker has had back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons for the Broncos and only turns 27 this Saturday. But there are questions about what he can do without Peyton Manning as his quarterback.

The biggest question likely is how much money he is looking for. There were reports he expected to get $9 million a year before free agency began. But the market on receivers looks soft. None of the big names were signed during Tuesday’s frantic kickoff. If that price comes down, he could be a fit for the Jets.

Wide receiver is the Jets’ biggest need. They did not have a receiver with 50 catches last season. After releasing Santonio Holmes on Monday, the Jets’ top receivers left on the roster are Jeremy Kerley, Stephen Hill and David Nelson.
