PSAL boys basketball roundup: Robeson rallies for league-opening victory over Transit Tech

Jamel Noel had 27 points and 10 rebounds and Darrel Lucky added 22 points and four assists as Robeson rallied for a 70-68 victory over Transit Tech to open Brooklyn AA league play Tuesday evening.

The Eagles led much of the way until Transit Tech (0-1), who won two of the three meetings between the two clubs last year, took the lead deep into the fourth quarter. Robeson (1-0), however, responded late, led by Lucky and Noel.

“We showed some toughness down the stretch in the last few minutes,” Robeson coach Todd Myles said. “I told the guys I’m proud of them, but we got a lot of work to do.”

Boys & Girls 79, Canarsie 47: Leroy Isler had 26 points and 13 rebounds, Jeffland Neverson had 16 points, Brandon Williams 15 and Jerry White 10 assists for Boys & Girls (1-0) in Brooklyn AA. Canarsie is 0-1.

Thomas Jefferson 76, Grady 25: Thaddeus Hall had 18 points, Shamel Williams 13 points and 11 rebounds and Davontay Grace 12 points and seven assists for Jefferson (1-0) in Brooklyn AA. Grady is 0-1.

Lincoln 82, South Shore 59: Shaquille Stokes scored 29 points for Lincoln (1-0) in Brooklyn AA. South Shore is 0-1.

Cardozo 64, Beach Channel 42: Ryan Rhoomes scored 17 points for Cardozo (1-0) in Queens AA. Beach Channel dropped to 0-1.

Bayside 53, Campus Magnet 35: Kevin Chang scored 15 points and Austin Williams added 12 for Bayside (1-0) in Queens AA. Campus Magnet is 0-1.

Thomas Edison 75, Flushing 62: Kris Owens sank five 3-pointers and scored 26 points, Josh Gray had 18 points and Ede Egharevba had 12 and 10 rebounds for Edison (1-0) in Queens AA. Flushing, which got 22 points from Malcolm Moore, is 0-1.

John F. Kennedy 86, James Monroe 53: Jeffrey Short scored 26 points, had 11 rebounds and five assists and Jonathan Mercedes added 12 points and five assists for JFK (1-0) in Bronx AA. Monroe is 0-1.

Gompers 65, Truman 60: Jason Henry had 17 points and 10 rebounds and Mouctar Toure followed with 14 points and 18 rebounds, 12 on the offensive glass, for Gompers, who improved to 1-0 in Bronx AA. Truman is 0-1.
