NY1 cuts ties with former anchor Carter

Cable news station NY1 says it has let go of its former political anchor, Dominic Carter.

A day before Carter’s sentencing for an attempted assault on his wife, station spokeswoman Nikia Redhead said today that Carter is no longer with NY1. He had been on leave, but she said he no longer is.

Carter faces up to three months in jail at his sentencing in suburban New York City on Thursday.

Carter was influential in city and state politics as host of NY1’s “Inside City Hall.”

He was taken off the air when NY1 learned in October that his wife accused him of hitting her. Carter was convicted of attempted assault in November.

Carter’s home phone is unlisted. His lawyer did not return a call Wednesday.
