Softball roundup: Environmental picks up two wins over Center

When the game started, back on April 19, Jocelyn Jimenez was on the shelf with an injury. But when it resumed, the Environmental Studies ace was there to pick up the victory.

Jimenez pitched a perfect eighth inning and Eagles catcher Amanda McLean drove in Chasity Velez with a walk-off single in the bottom half to give Environmental Studies a 14-13 win against Manhattan Center. The game was tied after seven when the permit expired last month.

Christine Luciano went 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored for Environmental (10-2). It was the Eagles’ first of two victories over Manhattan Center (3-9) on the afternoon.

Environmental Studies 15, Manhattan Center 2: Amanda McLean went 3-for-4 with seven RBIs and a run scored to lead Environmental Studies. Jocelyn Jimenez gave up two runs, one earned, on five hits in seven innings and Destini Torres and Francesca Then each had two RBIs.

James Madison 17, Grand Street Campus 0: Becky Ganley went 2-for-3 with four RBIs and two runs scored to lead Madison (10-1 Brooklyn A). Brittany O’Brien and Caitlyn Ganley each drove in two runs and Marie Oneto pitched a one-hitter in four innings, striking out seven. Grand Street is 6-7.

Clinton 19, John F. Kennedy 5: Niki Rodriguez went 2-for-2 with four RBIs and three runs scored and Tayna Pena went 1-for-2 with three RBIs and three runs scored to lead Clinton (8-2 Bronx A). Kennedy is 0-11.

Bushwick 25, Lincoln 8: Kassandra Steward went 3-for-3 with five RBIs and three runs scored to lead Bushwick (7-3 Brooklyn A). Gloria Hernandez went 1-for-3 with a home run, four RBIs and two runs scored and Karol Trejo was 3-for-4 with three RBIs and three runs. Lincoln is 1-12.

CSI/McCown 29, Curtis 12: Victoria Geager went 3-for-3 with seven RBIs and four runs scored and Charlene Castano was 3-for-4 with five RBIs and three runs for CSI (4-9 Staten Island A). Briana Kohm and Jennifer Siliato each had three RBIs. Curtis is 6-8.

New Utrecht 15, Midwood 3: Danielle Amorello went 2-for-3 with two home runs, four RBIs and two runs scored to lead New Utrecht (6-6 Brooklyn A). Ashley Fonseca and Melisa Lorenzano each drove in two runs apiece. Midwood is 5-8.

St. Joseph Hill 19, St. Peter’s 5: Briana Stapleton was 3-for-5 with two doubles and four RBIs and Samantha Wysokowski had three hits and drove in four for St. Joseph Hill (5-7) in CHSAA Staten Island softball. Katie Scarangello went 3-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs. Victoria Procopio allowed five hits and struck out six. St. Peters is 0-13.

InTech 11, Columbus 1: Yariel Acevedo gave up one run on one hit and struck out five in five innings to lead InTech (12-0 Bronx B-II). Columbus is 5-8.

Norman Thomas 12, Fashion Industries 2: Alisha Vasquez went 2-for-3 with a home run, four RBIs and two runs scored to lead Thomas (9-3 Manhattan B-II). Fashion is 6-6.

American Studies @ Lehman 13, Bronx Leadership 3: Sarah Paisner went 4-for-4 with five RBIs and one run scored for American Studies (12-1 Bronx B-II). Bronx Leadership is 6-7.

School of the Future 14, Richard Green 5: Samantha Rios went 5-for-5 with three RBIs and four runs scored for School of the Future (3-8 Manhattan B-III). Green is 1-10.

Brandeis 19, Eleanor Roosevelt 7: Linabel Tavarez went 2-for-4 with five RBIs and a run scored to lead Brandeis (5-7 Manhattan B-I). Roosevelt is 5-6.

Grace Dodge 27, Banana Kelly 7: Miguelina Fermin went 4-for-5 with five RBIs and four runs scored to lead Grace Dodge (6-7 Bronx B-II). Banana Kelly is 3-11.

Monroe 15, Roosevelt 12: Yaneth Gonzalez went 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs to lead Monroe (3-6 Bronx B-I). Roosevelt is 0-9.
