James Gandolfini (right), who starred as mob boss Tony Soprano in “The Sopranos,” was snapped jawing with former co-star Steve Schirripa (Bobby Bacala) in TriBeCa.

Maybe they were talking about Gandolfini’s new HBO series, “Taxi 22,” which he will executive-produce. The series, about a “politically incorrect” New York cabbie, is based on a Canadian sitcom called “Taxi O-22.” It hasn’t yet been decided if Gandolfini will star in the series.

The project is still in its infancy and there’s a lot to be worked out, according to trade reports.

The Canadian original, which airs on French-language TVA (Quebec), stars Patrick Huard as opinionated Montreal cabbie Rogatien Dubois Jr. and revolves around his interaction with his passengers.

Gandolfini, 48, has kept busy on the big screen and on stage since “The Sopranos” wrapped its six-season run in 2007.

He co-starred with Denzel Washington and John Travolta in “The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3” and opened on Broadway in March 2009 in “God of Carnage.”
