Regis has a clot

Regis Philbin is going back for another oper ation.

He is having a blood clot removed from his leg next week, but isn’t expected to miss any time on “Live With Regis & Kelly.”

Philbin, 78, said on yesterday’s show he’ll have the procedure done next Tuesday but expects to be back on “Live” on Wednesday.

Philbin had hip-replacement surgery last Dec. 1 and was off the air for several weeks, returning to “Live” on Jan. 4.

“I’ve been complaining about this clot . . . I think it’s a clot in my calf,” he told co-host Kelly Ripa.

“Ever since I got my hip replacement the other leg has acted up. If I walk more than three blocks, all of the sudden I feel that pain.

“One of the things you’ve got to do when you get a new hip is get up and walk, but I can’t walk because of the clot,” he said. “So I had a little sound check; we’re going to do [the procedure] on Tuesday.”

Philbin underwent triple-bypass heart surgery in March 2007, returning to “Live” six weeks later. — Michael Starr
