NJ Gov. Christie fires back at reporter

Here’s something you don’t see this side of the Hudson — a politician who talks straight.

When a reporter questioned whether New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie’s “confrontational tone” was a problem getting things through the legislature, the burly New Jersey governor didn’t hold back — saying he was simply doing what he was sent to Trenton to do.

Christie also warned the reporters at Thursday’s press conference that they hadn’t seen the half of it.

“You must be the thinnest-skinned guy in America. If you think that’s a confrontational tone than you should really see me when I’m pissed. That’s not confrontational,” Christie told the reporter who asked him the question.

Fighting Democrats — who he said want “bigger government, higher taxes and more spending” — was part of his job description, he said.

“I love when people say they don’t want to have argument, that’s what we were sent here for,” said Christie, a former US Attorney elected last November.

Proving that he’s not particularly thin-skinned, the reporter Christie challenged, Star-Ledger columnist Tom Moran said “I didn’t take any offense at all. I criticize him all the time and it’s completely fair game that he would fire back.”
