Bloomberg: You’d love N.Y., LeBron

Hoops star LeBron James would be a great addition to the Knicks and should move here in order to get the chance to play on “the world’s greatest stage,” Mayor Bloomberg said yesterday.

During his weekly radio show on WOR-AM, Bloomberg joined the growing chorus of New Yorkers who would love to see the Cleveland Cavaliers’ star in the Big Apple.

“I think it would be great for New York if he would come here,” Bloomberg said.

“If he calls me and asks, ‘What’s it like to live in New York,’ I’ll give him a big sales pitch for New York.”

The Boston Celtics eliminated the Cavaliers from the NBA playoffs Thursday night, fueling speculation that “King James” — who becomes a free agent on July 1 — will leave Cleveland.

What if LeBron decides to join the New Jersey Nets, who are planning to move to Brooklyn in 2011?

“I would never pick sides,” Bloomberg said.

Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert didn’t take kindly to Bloomberg’s advances.

“I would think Mayor Bloomberg would have more important things [to do] than that,” he said.
