5 things you didn’t know about ‘SNL’s’ new ‘Update’ anchor

OK, so Colin Jost is replacing Seth Meyers on “Saturday Night Live’s” vaunted “Weekend Update” segment starting March 1.

We thought it would be a good time to take a closer look at the man who will co-anchor (with Cecily Strong) a coveted piece of TV real estate that’s spawned, among others, Chevy Chase, Amy Poehler, Tina Fey and Jimmy Fallon.

With that in mind, here are five things you might not know about Jost — who, up until now, has worked behind-the-scenes as “SNL’s” head writer:

1.  He’s from Staten Island.

2.   He was president of the Harvard Lampoon, the university’s satiric magazine. Another past Lampoon president? Former “Late Night”/“Tonight Show” host Conan O’Brien, now hosting “Conan” on TBS.

3.   His mother is the Chief Medical Officer for the New York City Fire Department.

4.   He’s done stand-up on NBC stablemate “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.”

5.   He wrote the movie “Staten Island Summer,” due out this year.
