The big street event of the holiday is five days (Aug. 29 – Sept. 2) of West Indian music, dance and batty riders climax with the huge parade on Monday (Labor Day). The first four days of shows will be on the grounds of the Brooklyn Art Museum.

NYC UNICYCLE FESTIVAL 2013
Unicycles have gone chunky tire and are passing into the mainstream. See all sorts of tricks at this three day collection of commuters and clowns, including unicycle basketball, hockey and the Hell on Wheel trials course. Just remember, Friday is Brooklyn Unicycle Day, with a long distance ride (2 p.m.) from City Hall to Coney Island. What next, penny farthing races?
