Disgraced ex-Assemblyman Nelson Castro facing new perjury rap

He just can’t stop lying.

Disgraced former Bronx Assemblyman Nelson Castro was hauled into Manhattan Federal Court yesterday to face a new perjury rap — four months after copping to a plea deal for lying to officials in another case.

Yesterday, Castro — who famously turned rat for the feds after being caught lying the first time — pleaded guilty again to making false statements.

He’d lied to two probers with the US Attorney’s Office in June when he said he never talked to a reporter for an article the month before, Castro admitted.

When he later said he’d just forgotten about the interview, that was a lie, too, he said.

And although he had denied talking about his case with the interviewer, he actually had, he said.

Still, prosecutors said they will ask for leniency at Castro’s sentencing if he continues to cooperate in their far-reaching state-government corruption probe.

With his help, the feds ensnared state Assemblyman Eric Stevenson of The Bronx in a bribery case.

Castro, 41, started cooperating with authorities after being caught lying to elections officials over his residency as he prepared to run in 2008.

As part of a plea deal, he was not to be prosecuted for that perjury. But it appears that he could be now, because he was supposed to stay clean as a condition of that agreement.

His political ambitions are likely over, though.

In May, he was still telling The Post that he wanted to run again. The felony that he pleaded guilty to yesterday appears to bar that.
