K-9 cops make the collar

Canine cops tracked down a violent turnstile jumper last night after he threw an officer trying to arrest him to the ground at the 14th Street/Eighth Avenue subway station.

The cop suffered a wrist injury when the suspect threw her down at 6:45 p.m. and took off.

The police dogs picked up his scent after sniffing a piece of clothing he had dropped as he fled the scene.

He was found about a block away huddled near the Dream Downtown Hotel at Ninth Avenue at 16th Street.

The man was taken into custody but has yet to be charged. The officer was taken to Bellevue Hospital for treatment of minor right-arm injuries.
