SAVE A FEW BEAN$ AT STARBUCKS

Better latte than never.

Starbucks is lowering the prices on some of its coffee drinks — the first time the chain has slashed its vente-size prices.

A small — or “tall” — coffee will be reduced from $1.75 to $1.50 in city shops in the coming weeks. Baristas will whip up basic lattes and cappuccinos at a 10- to 15-cent discount, the coffee giant said yesterday.

The prices were put in effect in a few undisclosed cities yesterday and will soon expand nationwide.

“These are our most popular beverages,” spokeswoman Anna Kim-Williams told The Post. “And this is the first time we’ve lowered prices.”

Not all prices are falling.

“Some of the more complex drinks,” such as the Frappuccino, will be hiked as much as 25 cents, she said.

City caffeine fiends appreciated the reductions.

“I’m happy they are lowering prices,” said Drew Lardier, 22, who drinks at least one grande iced coffee every day. “Unfortunately, I’m addicted.”

But some regulars complained about the hikes.

“Starbucks is raising prices and the quality is going down,” said Kelly Edmonston, 22, of Astoria, Queens, after ordering a vanilla Frappuccino.

“The coffee tastes burnt and watered down . . . They’re becoming the McDonald’s of the coffee world.”
