GLAM SLAM TOURNEY

Even their sweatbands are fashion statements.

Just about every top-seeded player at the US Open this year is trying to score points as a fashion plate.

The spotlight on style has become so sharp and drawn so much interest that stars such as Roger Federer, Maria Sharapova and Serena Williams had their fans in suspense until the last minute — keeping their ensembles under wraps until just seconds before they stepped on the court.

And most of the players are offering two looks — one for the day, another for the night.

Federer, a favorite of Vogue editor Anna Wintour, looked like he’s relaxed a bit since winning his 15th Grand Slam tourney.

He’s shed his staid, uptight whites for blazing-hot red and black.

When the sun is out, he sports a red shirt and black shorts — at night, he’s dressed all in black.

Serena Williams is moving up fast in the fashion ranks.

In the past, she’s been a top contender for worst ensembles — with a highly unflattering black unitard and patterned outfits.

This year, she’s swapped out her tacky look for a more flattering appearance.

She’s going for sophisticated black at night, bright pink during the day.

Tennis frat boy Andy Roddick at least seems to be trying.

When the sun is out, he wears almost all white — with just a bit of blue in the shirt.

At night, it’s the complete reverse — almost all blue, with just a splotch of white.

Unfortunately, it’s a double fault.

Nice try — but, night or day, it’s boring.

Cut to the opposite side of the fashion spectrum: Rafael Nadal will be sweating through a single look for the entire tournament.

Spain’s hottest export exceeds fashion expectations.

His neon number will make it impossible to look away as he smashes his way through the tournament.

His sheer — slightly see-through — shorts are a teaser.

But the real tiebreakers are his turquoise head band and wrist band — which contrast nicely with his bright yellow shirt.

Fans will need sunglasses to look at him.

Sharapova shows off her slammin’ fashion sense yet again with two cool striped dresses.

Identical in silhouette, one dress is navy with silver metallic stripes, while the other is blush pink with Nadal-like neon stripes.

Maria and Rafa — that would make for one blindingly hot doubles team.
