Macy’s shoppers were forced to evacuate after a fire broke out under a store escalator in the Herald Square department store yesterday. Here are photos submitted by Post readers at the scene.

At first, officials evacuated only the third and fourth floors, but they then emptied the entire store. It took 25 minutes for firefighters to get the blaze under control.
