SI blaze in vacant house leaves neighboring family homeless

An Annadale family is left homeless after a fire tore through their home.

The blaze originated in the vacant home next door before spreading to destroy the home at 254 Edgegrove Ave.

No injuries have been reported but the family who lives there, including a 6-month-old baby, is now homeless after the Christmas Day blaze.

Fire officials did not label the fire suspicious.

The vacant home where the fire originated had a pending permit with the Buildings Department for construction of a one-car garage, along with a resolved complaint against the homeowner from earlier this year, reports the Staten Island Advance.
