Foodies cancel nuptials; bride parties on

The wedding’s off, but the party’s on.

Celebrity chef Todd English split with his gorgeous bride-to-be, Erica Wang, just days before their wedding, but the raven-tressed beauty still enjoyed a party fit for a king in the top-floor ballroom of a swank Midtown hotel last night — on her former flame’s dime.

The blowout bash at the St. Regis Hotel, which should have been the couple’s reception, was a lavish fete complete with champagne and a rollicking wedding band playing well into the night.

English — a multimillionaire who owns an empire of eateries around the country including Union Square hotspot Olives and Financial District eatery Libertine — and Wang, who once worked with him on the PBS cooking show, “Food Trip,” were engaged in 2008.

Despite the cancellation just days ago, about 150 of Wang’s closest friends and family packed into the posh party space 20 stories above Fifth Avenue.

Nicknamed “The Roof” because of its ceiling mural depicting the night sky, the penthouse of the famed five-star hotel was decked out in a red-and-white Asian theme.

The guests’ spirits were not dampened by the abandoned ceremony.

“Everybody is having a fantastic time,” said a source. “People are dancing their butts off.”

The cancellation came too late for Wang’s people, many of whom are staying in the hotel, so they partied on to raise the would-be bride’s spirits.

“It’s just so unfortunate, but we came to support her,” said an elderly gentleman who was dressed in a tuxedo.

The massive 3,500- square-foot space, decked out in plush draping and ornate chandeliers, was festooned with blood-red cascading flowers and roses.

Wang’s guests consoled themselves at the Peking Duck station, slurped chilled clams and munched on an extravagant five-course dinner, according to a source.

The nuptials were originally scheduled for June 1, according to the couple’s Tiffany registry.

Friends and relatives had already purchased much of the couple’s wish list, including a $490 William Portia footed cake plate in glass dome and a $420 sterling silver rectangular frame.

Love has been elusive for English, 48, the former reality-TV star of season three of “Top Chef,” a divorced father of three who has been engaged twice before.

English, who was voted one of People magazine’s 50 Most Beautiful People in 2001, made his bones in the Boston culinary scene with Olives, his first restaurant which opened in 1989.

A source close to English said the trip to splitsville was mutual.

“No wedding took place this weekend,” said English in a statement. “I appreciate your respect for my privacy in this difficult time.”
