Appendicitis is turn ing into the new celebrity “exhaustion” — except it’s real this time.
Former “American Idol” winner Jordin Sparks had to bow out of a trip to Australia, where she was scheduled to sing a duet with Australian “Idol” Guy Sebastian, following an attack of acute appendicitis last Tuesday.
She had an appendectomy yesterday and Tweeted from the recovery room that she was “Feeling a little better but very sore. Thank you so much for your thoughts & prayers. It means so much & it’s so powerful.”
Sparks followed up the Tweet by posting a photo of herself, clutching two teddy bears, in the hospital. “Smiling, resting & takin it easy!” she wrote. She expects to spend “the next week or so” recovering from the operation.
Sparks is just the latest in a long line of celebrities who’ve been stricken with appendicitis at an inopportune time, reportedly including Lindsay Lohan, Ashley Judd and Zac Efron.
Earlier this month, Glenn Beck was forced to leave in the middle of his radio show after suffering an attack of appendicitis and was rushed to a hospital to have his appendix removed. He returned to the airwaves a week later.
