Reader’s Digest moving to NYC

Mary Berner, CEO of Reader’s Digest Association, is shacking up with Rachel Ray.

RDA, now working through Chapter 11 bankruptcy, is abandoning its bucolic longtime headquarters in Chapaqua, N.Y.

Some of the 600 employees based in Chappaqua will be relocate to White Plains, N.Y. But executive offices and Reader’s Digest magazine’s editorial will move to space at 750 Third Avenue that was recently vacated by S.I. Newhouse’s Conde Nast Publications.

The move, which was brokered by Cushman & Wakefield, must still be aprroved by the bankruptcy court, but Berner told the staff via memo this morning.

If approved, it means that Berner will be in the same offices as Everyday with Rachel Ray, which RDA publishes. It is also a homecoming for Bermer. She worked out of 750 Third when when she was the president of Fairchild Publications, part of the Newhouse-owned Advance Publications along with Conde Nast. She resigned in 2006.
