Kate Winslet loses to starlet

The Hollywood power marriage of Kate Winslet and Sam Mendes was torpedoed by a young actress the director has been squiring around Manhattan, sources said yesterday.

Mendes seemed to be spending more time with British-born actress Rebecca Hall, 27, than his wife in recent months — and Winslet wasn’t happy, according to friends

“When Kate found out that Sam had grown close to Rebecca, she was upset,” a source close to the Oscar-winning actress told Britain’s Daily Mail.

“Rebecca is totally Sam’s type — a thespian mix of brains and beauty,” the insider said.

Cambridge-educated Hall is the daughter of famed British theater director Sir Peter Hall.

Winslet, 34, and Mendes, 44, announced on Monday they were ending their seven-year marriage.

Since then, actress Hall — who scored a Golden Globe nomination for best actress for her role in Woody Allen’s 2008 movie “Vicky Cristina Barcelona” — has given Mendes a “shoulder to cry on,” the Daily Mail reported.

Hall first met Mendes on the set of the 2006 “Starter for 10,” which he executive produced. They both insist they are just friends.
