Bloomberg is ‘mane’ attraction at charity gala

Mayor Bloomberg let his hair down last night.

Hizzoner hammed it up as “Berg,” an aging hippie in “Mair” — a musical spoof he performed for the annual Inner Circle charity dinner with help from the cast of Broadway’s “Hair.”

The Big Apple’s big cheese even got a little help on stage from the Garden State’s finest fist-pumpers: Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi and Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino from the “Jersey Shore.”

“Just got done chillen with nycmayor,” an ecstatic Snooki tweeted after performing with Bloomberg. “I showed my hair poof for mayor B!”

The mayor seemed taken with Polizzi, calling her “very nice and cute,” after the show.

“She seemed more excited to be there then we were to have her,” he quipped.

Bloomberg also joked off stage that he and the Situation, who is known for his abs, look the same shirtless.

During the show, the mayor looked right at home in a groovy get-up of long, flowing locks, a headband, suede moccasins and custom-made bell-bottom jeans.

He was festooned with funky patches, each symbolizing a city agency.

Bloomberg entered the stage on a cardboard Volkswagen bus and sang along to several reworked classics from the original Broadway show “Hair.”

The musical’s title tune was changed to “Times Square,” a song about the pedestrian plaza created there, and “Aquarius” became “Mike-quarius.”

In a song called “Good Morning Papers,” Bloomberg sang about the “punch of The Post.”

At one point, “Berg” is asked what he’ll run for after he leaves City Hall.

“Public advocate?” someone suggests. “It’d have to be a real job,” he joked.

Later, Bloomberg is reminded to “start thinking about your future or you’re going to end up on skid row or on trial.”

“That wouldn’t be so bad, you meet a lot of cool people in detention,” the mayor quipped, naming several local pols who’ve been arrested such as Hiram Monserrate, Larry Seabrook, Brian McLaughlin and Diane Gordon.

The mayor’s star turn came on the heels of a sketch performed by past and present City Hall news reporters, which skewered him for, among other things, nearly losing his run for a third term to Democratic challenger Bill Thompson.

The reporters portrayed him as a descendant of a line of vampires from “Transfatsylvania” — a jab at the mayor’s health agenda — who was cursed with the desire to run for office again and again.

Gov. Paterson, who was not in attendance, also got a good roasting.

Act Two opened with an actor portraying Paterson as the captain of the Titanic. He steered right into an iceberg and ended up stranded on Governors Island, surrounded by “sharks,” including Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, Lt. Gov. Richard Ravitch and Long Island Republican Rick Lazio.

For the grand finale, Hizzoner belted out “Let the Sunshine In” and levitated off the stage.

One of the mayor’s guests for the annual gala was Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, with whom he’s had a frosty relationship.

The event, held at Midtown’s New York Hilton, raises money for dozens of causes, such as the Coalition for the Homeless, the Museum of the City of New York and the American Heart Association.
