Car catch-up
After five years, a stolen car was recovered from the streets of Flatbush on March 26 thanks to some good fortune and a lousy driver.
Officials said that a 49-year-old man was arrested when he was found operating the stolen car at the corner of Nostrand Avenue and Cortelyou road at 3:35 pm.
Cops were motoring past the corner when they saw suspect Arthur Noli zip by in a 2005 Honda Ridgeline.
After he made an unsafe lane change between two vehicles with very little space in between them, cops pulled him over only to find that his vehicle had been reported stolen back in 2005 — just a few short months after it rolled off the showroom floor.
Cops took Noli into custody, charging him with criminal possession of stolen property.
Baby daddy blues
An 18-year-old woman was arrested March 28 after she allegedly attacked her former boyfriend’s new girlfriend.
Officials said that Caprice Hall was arguing with her ex-love, who is also her baby’s father, and the new woman inside an East 26th Street home between Clarendon Road and Avenue D when she lashed out, punching the woman in the face.
She then beat the woman with a radio.
Police said that when they arrived at the scene the new girlfriend was beaten, bruised and scratched.
Hall was taken into custody without incident, charged with assault in the third degree, criminal possession of a weapon, menacing and harassment.
Liquid courage
A neighborhood boozer ended up behind bars March 28 after he allegedly attacked a cop giving him a ticket for drinking alcohol in a public place.
Cops said they found Gregorio Lozada, 28, taking slugs from a Tequilia bottle at the corner of Coney Island Avenue and Beverly Road at 7:55 pm.
When an officer proceeded to write him a ticket, Lozada allegedly began cursing at the cop. He then tried to attack him, officials said.
The officer invited Lozada to finish his drink in a holding cell as he charged him with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and harassment.
Watch thieves busted
Cops have arrested two teens who threatened to beat up another teen if he didn’t hand over the fancy watch hanging off his wrist.
The victim said that he was on Rogers Avenue near Lenox Road at 4:15 pm when 16-year-old Qwashawn Palmer and 18-year-old Edwin Bonheur approached him.
They said that if he didn’t give up his watch, they would hit him.
The duo managed to get the watch without raising a fist, but couldn’t enjoy it for very long. Responding officers took them into custody a short time later, charging them with robbery in the second degree, grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property.
Slashed during squabble
A woman received a cut just above her eye during a brawl inside a Flatlands apartment last week.
The victim said that she was inside the East 55th Street home near Avenue J just after 5 pm on March 26 when a 20-year-old woman she was arguing with lunged at her with a knife.
Responding officers took the unnamed attacker into custody, charging her with assault.
Help wipe out graffiti
As the ongoing war against graffiti vandalism continues, cops are now offering a $500 reward to anyone with information that can lead them to graffiti vandals.
The hefty reward is part of the city’s new push to rid New York of graffiti, which is one of the leading quality of life complaints brought to police.
Officials said that cleaning up graffiti is essential to the plan, to show that the community is no longer going to tolerate marred and tagged-up walls and street corners.
According to police, there is a perception that if a community will tolerate graffiti, they will tolerate other criminal activities, such as drug dealing and prostitution.
