Slugfest knocks out Cyclones

Cyclones 12

Jammers 13

Sunday, July 4 at Jamestown

Talk about Fourth of July fireworks!

The Cyclones and the Jammers met for the first time this season and combined for 25 runs and 30 hits. Unfortunately, Jamestown ended up with one more run when the dust cleared.

Once again, you can blame the Cyclones bullpen for this loss.

The Clones had run their lead up to 12–1 in the sixth when the wheels came off the bus in the form of 12 unanswered runs, including seven in the eighth inning.

Starter Chris Hillard was long gone by the time relievers Hunter Carnevale (0 IP, 2 hits, 5 runs, 3 walks) and Hamilton Bennett (1-1/3 IP, 2 hits, 2 runs) combined to do the damage.

On the plus side for the Cyclones Darrell Ceciliani was 3-for-6, including a triple; Cory Vaughn was 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs, and Jeff Flagg was 3-for-3.

The reeling Cyclones remain on the road now and will return home on Thursday, July 8 against the State College Spikes. Game time is 7 pm at MCU Park [1904 Surf Ave. at W. 19th Street in Coney Island, (718) 449-8497]. For info, visit http://www.brooklyncyclones.com.
