“True Blood” is a vampire show, and you have to expect death to come knocking on a regular basis. But as the HBO series wraps up its final season, it looks like the Grim Reaper is here to stay.
Already, two major characters have died — Tara (Rutina Wesley) in the season premiere and, in Sunday’s episode, the muscled wonder Alcide (Joe Manganiello).
The werewolf was shot while tracking Sookie (Anna Paquin), who ventured into the forest with Bill (Stephen Moyer).
It seems fair to say that more violent departures are around the corner. It would be premature to write any obituaries now, but perhaps a look back at some of the more memorable exits is in order.
Godric
More than 2,100 years old but with the body of a teenage boy, Godric (Allan Hyde) has had enough of life. He is revered by Eric (Alexander Skarsgard), who begs him not to kill himself — to no avail.
Godric “meets the sun” at dawn on the roof of the Hotel Carmilla, surprised and inspired by the fact that a “human,” Sookie Stackhouse, would accompany him and shed tears at his end.

Russell Edgington
The former vampire king of Mississippi, played by Denis O’Hare, was believed to be dead at the end of Season 3. No such luck.
Russell returned in Season 5 and was such a nuisance that Eric had to do away with him. Let’s just say it was explosive.

Lorena Krasiki
Lorena Krasiki (Mariana Klaveno) was a vampire of distinction, having made Bill Compton into one. In Season 3, they were reunited, and she seduced him.
This did not go over well with Sookie, who drove a stake though Lorena’s heart before she killed Bill.

Roman Zimojic
As Roman Zimojic, Christopher Meloni headed up the organization known as the Vampire Authority and supported a world where vampires and humans could co-exist peacefully.
He was killed by Russell Edgington.

Rosalyn Harris
Rosalyn Harris (Carolyn Hennesy) was the redheaded chancellor of the Authority. She is killed when Sam Merlotte (Sam Trammell) shape-shifts into a fly and swoops into her mouth.
He then shifts back into his human form while inside her, causing her body to literally come part.
