Behind the scenes with new ‘Downton’ book

You’ve watched “Downton Abbey” on PBS — now read the book.

“Behind the Scenes at Dowton Abbey,” which chronicles the ITV/PBS series, will hit bookstores Oct. 29 (St. Martin’s Press).

Written by Emma Rowley, it features a foreword by series executive producer Gareth Naeme — and is billed as “The Official Backstage Pass to the Set, the Actors and the Drama.”

The new book is the third (so far) to cover the world of “Downton” and follows on the heels of “The World of Downton Abbey,” also published by St. Martin’s Press (in December 2011) and written by Jessica Fellowes
— daughter of series creator Julian Fellowes (who wrote that book’s foreword).

Jessica Fellowes co-wrote (with Matthew Sturgis) “The Chronicles of Downton Abbey,” which was published (by St. Martin’s) in the fall of 2012.

“Downton Abbey” returns for its fourth season in January (on PBS) with an ensemble cast including Michelle Dockery, Hugh Bonneville, Elizabeth McGovern and Penelope Wilton.
