James Van Der Beek to star in ‘CSI’ spinoff

James Van Der Beek is getting yet another chance to star in yet another TV show.

The onetime “Dawson’s Creek” star will play the male lead in the new CBS series “CSI: Cyber” opposite Patricia Arquette. Van Der Beek’s character, FBI agent Elijah Mundo, is described as “an expert in battlefield forensics” and a “savant when it comes to weaponry, vehicles and bombs” who served in Afghanistan.

He’s recruited by special agent Avery Ryan (Arquette), who heads the FBI’s Cyber Crimes Division.

Van Der Beek last co-starred on the short-lived CBS series “Friends With Better Lives” and also co-starred in “Don’t Trust The B” (ABC) and “Mercy” (NBC), both of which didn’t last very long.

He played Dawson Leery on “Dawson’s Creek” from 1998 to 2003.
