Pharrell Williams joins ‘The Voice’ as new coach

Time to get “Happy,” “Voice” fans — Pharrell Williams is joining the show as a coach.

The NBC reality competition show announced on Twitter Monday that the singer-songwriter will coach its upcoming seventh season, premiering in the fall. He replaces Cee Lo Green, who announced last month that he was leaving “The Voice.”

Williams, who previously served as a guest mentor on “The Voice,” is coming off a banner year, having performed on the hit singles “Get Lucky” with Daft Punk and “Blurred Lines” with Robin Thicke.

He was also nominated for an Academy Award for “Happy” from the film “Despicable Me 2” and his new album “G I R L” debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart in the US.

NBC said the rest of the Season Seven coaching line-up will be confirmed at a later date.
