Samberg, Harington lead HBO’s ‘7 Days In Hell’

Andy Samberg (“Brooklyn Nine-Nine”) and Kit Harington (“Game of Thrones”) are set to lead the star-studded cast of the HBO movie “7 Days In Hell.”

The sports mockumentary stars Samberg and Harington as fierce tennis rivals facing off in an epic, seven-day match at Wimbledon in 2004, according to reports. Samberg will play superstar tennis bad-boy Aaron Williams while the British Harington is set for the role of an Andy Murray-like prodigy/truck driver.

Also in the cast are Fred Armisen (“Portlandia”), Lena Dunham (“Girls”), Will Forte (“Nebraska”), Karen Gillan (“Selfie”), Howie Mandel (“America’s Got Talent”), Soledad O’Brien (playing herself), Michael Sheen (“Masters of Sex”), Mary Steenburgen (“Justified”) and June Squibb (“Nebraska”).

The “7 Days In Hell” concept is based on an idea from Samberg and “Girls” writer/producer Murray Miller, who is writing the script. Jake Szymanski (“Saturday Night Live”) will direct.

The plot doubles the length of the longest real-life match in tennis history — when John Isner and Nicolas Mahut played for 11 hours over three days at Wimbledon in 2010.
