CLINTON PAL’SQUEEZE PLAY

Movie mogul and Hillary Rodham Clinton backer Harvey Weinstein told House Speaker Nancy Pelosi he would stop fund-raising for Democrats if she refused to support new primary elections in Florida and Michigan, it was reported yesterday.

CNN said Weinstein appeared to be trying to buy Clinton more time to wrest the near-certain nomination from Barack Obama.

Pelosi yesterday declined to comment, but didn’t deny the story.

“I think enough has been said about that phone conversation,” Pelosi said.

Weinstein, a big fund-raiser for Clinton and other Democrats, denied any threat.

“Never, ever was the thought about denying funding to Demorats,” Weinstein, the co-founder of Miramax Films, said.

The Democratic National Committee nullified the results in Florida and Michigan for violating party rules by voting early.

Clinton wants to count Michigan and Florida to try to close the gap with Obama. It’s not the first time that Weinstein went to bat for Clinton.
