Mayor Bloomberg‘s leading lady is hitting a milestone today.
Charlotte Bloomberg, the mayor’s mother, turns 100 years old today, and the mayor plans to spend the day with her in Massachusetts, where she resides.
The 66-year-old mayor, who often jokes about his own status as a senior citizen who can get a discounted movie ticket and MetroCard, spoke fondly of his mother’s longevity.
“She remembers electricity coming into the house or apartment she lived in and gas lamps going out. She remembers the first car in the neighborhood.
“Today, she carries a cellphone and e-mails,” he marveled yesterday during his annual New Year’s Day visit to Times Square.
The mayor plans to visit her in Medford, Mass., with his sister, Marjorie Bloomberg Tiven, and his companion, Diana Taylor.
The group will have lunch and look at old photos, he said.
