Man surrenders to cops after horrific Molotov attack

Police say a man wanted for throwing a Molotov cocktail into a Brooklyn deli has turned himself in on Thursday, and is now facing attempted murder charges, according to cops.

Charles Diaz, 35, was allegedly caught on surveillance camera tossing the makeshift explosive into a 24-hour mini-mart on Wednesday in Borough Park, after cops say the man got into an argument with the store clerk inside.

Sources say the argument was over store credit, as Diaz was attempting to buy a pack of cigarettes. Once the store clerk denied Diaz of store credit for his smokes, that’s when police sources say a drunken Diaz came back for revenge.

Cops say he returned an hour later with a Molotov cocktail, which he threw into the deli with the store clerk still inside, according to cops.

“It was the perfect shot,” a source said of the explosive. “The liquid went everywhere and created a wall of fire”

Diaz was charged with attempted murder, assault, arson and criminal possession of a weapon, according to police.

The 34-year-old store clerk suffered minor injuries after his hair and jacket set on fire from Diaz’s Molotov cocktail, authorities said.
