Old gang may not reappear on ‘Heroes’ reboot

NBC has announced that it’s reviving “Heroes,” the sci-fi drama that aired from 2006 to 2010, as a 13-episode miniseries to premiere next year.

“Heroes Reborn” will be executive-produced by “Heroes” creator Tim Kring and will be a new story arc that stands alone from the original series, which followed ordinary people who discovered they had superhuman abilities.

NBC is keeping all story lines and character details under wraps, which means there’s no word, yet, if any of the original cast members might return. Some are more available than others: Here’s what five “Heroes” stars are up to now.

Hayden Panettiere

Panettiere, who played “Heroes” character Claire Bennet, went from cheerleader to country music starlet Juliette Barnes on the ABC drama “Nashville,” a role that has earned Panetierre a Golden Globe nomination. With only so-so ratings, the show is on the bubble to be renewed for next season.

Greg Grunberg

Since “Heroes,” where he played Matt Parkman, Grunberg has co-starred in Lifetime’s now-canceled “The Client List” from 2012-13 and NBC’s summer burn-off “Love Bites” in 2011. Last year he also had guest spots on “Baby Daddy” and “Masters of Sex” and was cast as the male lead in the USA comedy pilot “Divide & Conquer.”

Milo Ventimiglia

The actor, who played Peter Petrelli on “Heroes,” has kept himself busy in TV, starring in TNT’s six-episode series “Mob City” last year and as the lead in the Crackle action series “Chosen” (on which he’s also a producer). Last week he was cast in the pilot for “The Visitors,” an alien drama on ABC.

Zachary Quinto

With a successful career in movies, Quinto seems the least likely to reprise his “Heroes” role, Sylar. The actor played Spock in last year’s “Star Trek Into Darkness” and starred in 2011’s “Margin Call.” On TV, he appeared in the first and second installments of FX’s “American Horror Story.” He’s currently starring on Broadway in the hit revival of “The Glass Menagerie,” opposite Cherry Jones.

Kristen Bell

After playing Elle Bishop on the series from 2007-09, Bell went on to star as the voice of “Gossip Girl ” on The CW and has a recurring arc on “Parks and Recreation.” She now stars in the Showtime comedy “House of Lies,” which was recently renewed for a fourth season, and will next appear in the “Veronica Mars” movie, due out on March 14.
