Investigators strongly doubt the blast that rocked an Upper East Side Starbucks is connected to earlier ones outside the Times Square military recruitment station and two consulates, sources said.
They said the make-up of the bomb — flash powder stuffed inside a jumbo pill jar — was not similar to the ones used for the earlier bombings.
The description of two teens or young men running from the scene also did not match descriptions from the earlier incidents in which a man was seen biking from the scene.
They have eyed a New Year’s Eve bombing at a Providence, RI, Starbucks as possibly being connected, though, the sources said.
Anarchist groups have targeted Starbucks in the past, accusing it of anti-union activities and poor treatment of coffee growers.
