Yankees add to pitching inventory with Chris Capuano

While the Yankees monitor Ian Kennedy and others to upgrade their staff, they made another small addition Thursday, acquiring lefty Chris Capuano from Colorado for cash considerations.

Capuano, 35, is expected to join the team in The Bronx on Friday. The former Met signed with the Rockies on July 4 as a minor league free agent and made four combined starts with Double-A Tulsa and Triple-A Colorado Springs.

He spent much of the first half with the Red Sox, going 1-1 with a 4.55 ERA in 28 relief appearances before he was released on July 1. He also pitched previously for the Diamondbacks, Brewers and Dodgers.

The Yankees could make room on the roster for Capuano by sending right-hander Chris Leroux back to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
