Lawsuit says celebrity event company stiffed staff on tips

A Manhattan events company that rolls out the red carpet for celebrity clients such as Donald Trump, Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie is being accused of stiffing its staff on tips.

Bartender Robert Atkins, who worked for Metronome Events for four years through 2013, filed suit in Manhattan Supreme Court on Wednesday, claiming he’s owed $375,000 from his ex-employer.

The Washington Heights resident claims Metronome charged an automatic 20 percent gratuity for banquets at four Manhattan venues including Providence on West 57th Street, Club Crimson on Broadway and Lexicon on East 54th Street.

But Atkins says he never saw a dime from the tip charges and he believes Metronome pocketed the money.

Atkins, a New York University grad, was only paid a flat $150 fee for working 140 events hosted by the company that put on a birthday bash for Depp, a Miss Universe event with Trump and the NY Film Critics Circle Awards with Jolie, her husband Brad Pitt and Meryl Streep, the suit claims.

The bartender says in his suit that bosses misled the A-listers into thinking he was being tipped.

Metronome did not return a message seeking comment.
