‘Sole’ food on 5 train (video)

That’s some spit-shine!

A stomach-turning video of a subway rider slathering his sandal with his tongue surfaced on the Web yesterday.

The polishing act one-ups most legendary stories of straphangers clipping their fingernails, tossing food, and doing far worse while riding the rails.

The bizarre incident took place Wednesday on the downtown 5 train just before the 125th Street stop at around 9:30 p.m., said the college co-ed who shot the video.

“Apart from the rats, this is one of the grossest things I’ve ever seen on the subway,” said the 26-year-old, who refused to give her name.

“As soon as the train stopped at 125th Street, he jumped up and got off,” she said.

The cringe-inducing shoe cleaner licked every inch of his black sandal and its silver buckle — about a minute of the action was caught on video.

He then paused to pick lint from between his toes and then slip the soggy sandal back on his foot.

And that was only the second act to his disgusting show. By the time the amateur videographer noticed the man, he had already finished lapping his right sandal.

On the video, fellow riders seemed to ignore the bizarre sight. But what viewers don’t hear is the nervous laughter of other riders, drowned out by the pounding roar of the train, the woman said.

By yesterday afternoon, the video had racked up more than 111,000 views on YouTube — just days after it was posted.

The shoe-shine clip is the latest strange subway scene caught on tape in recent months.

Last week, viewers were treated to viral video of a naked madman melting down on the No. 6 train. He stripped off his clothes and then chased people naked through a Bronx station.

In March, millions logged on to YouTube to watch a video of a fight that erupted on the subway when a female straphanger criticized another rider for eating spaghetti on the train.
