A Midtown subway station was evacuated during the evening rush hour yesterday after an ammunition box was spotted on a train, authorities said.

Cops descended on the Seventh Avenue/53rd Street station after the suspicious package was spotted on an uptown train on the B/D line at about 5 p.m., cops said.

Service resumed by 6:30 after the NYPD Bomb Squad found the box empty, cops said.

A nervous bank bandit failed in his bid to knock off a Norwood branch, authorities said.

He passed a demand note to a Chase teller in the branch on Jerome Avenue near East 210th Street at 10:30 a.m. on June 28.

The teller hesitated and stepped away from the window, and the bandit fled empty-handed.

Police are looking for the bank robber who held up a Melrose branch, cops said.

On June 19 at 12:30 p.m., a crook fled with an undisclosed sum of cash from the Emigrant Savings branch at 370 E. 149th Street, cops said.

Police arrested the gunman who allegedly killed a foe in University Heights in an ongoing gang dispute.

Howard Howard, 21, was charged with murder in the slaying Monday of 21-year-old Juan Acosta, who was shot in the head and torso in front of 2264 Davidson Ave.

Two armed hoods mugged four people near Conference House Park in Tottenville, authorities said.

Steven Pak, 19, and an accomplice targeted their victims at 7:50 p.m. last Saturday at the end of Hylan Boulevard near Satterlee Street, court papers state.

“Give me your money,” Pak allegedly barked as his cohort brandished the weapon.

The duo fled with cash and cellphones, but Pak was nabbed Tuesday and charged with robbery.

The second suspect remains on the lam.

Two suspected drug dealers were caught with a stash of painkillers and counterfeit cash in Graniteville, authorities said.

Wilson Vargas, 21, and Ismael Hasan, 24, had oxycodone pills and $100 in bogus bills in their vehicle when police arrested them Tuesday at 5:12 p.m. at Deppe Place and Willow Road West, cops said.

The teen thief pedaled off with the bag he snagged from under the counter of the Castleton Laundromat on Castleton Avenue near Brighton Avenue at 9 p.m. on May 23, police added.

Detectives are searching for the knife-wielding thug who attempted to rob a Rossville grocery store.

The suspect flashed a blade at the cashier in Food Mart at 645 Rossville Ave. at about 8 p.m. Sunday, police said.

The frightened employee fled and the suspect departed empty-handed.

Cops nabbed a pedestrian carrying brass knuckles and a bludgeon, authorities said.

Jeffrey Cicirello, 29, was collared for weapons possession at Forest and Barrett avenues just before midnight Tuesday, court papers show.

A Hollis woman whose relatives feared she had been killed after she went missing was found yesterday in Texas.

Rajwinder Kaur had been missing since Sunday, but Dallas cops found her in good health at a bus stop, police sources said.

Family members feared the 26-year-old woman had been murdered after her sister received a bizarre text message from Kaur’s cellphone that read: “The girl with this phone is dead was smiling.”
