Violin worth up to $10M stuffed in reclusive heiress’ closet

An incredibly rare Stradivarius violin — stuffed away in the closet of reclusive heiress of Huguette Clark — could fetch up to $10 million when it hits the auction block.

The violin is among several valuable items found inside Clark’s sprawling 907 Fifth Ave. apartment, following her death at age 104 in 2011.

Christie’s began accepting sealed bids for the violin on Friday and will keep the auction open until the following Thursday.

The 1731 violin is known as “The Kreutzer,” after French violinist Rodolphe Kreutzer who once owned it.

The auction house believes it’ll go for between $7.5 million and $10 million.

“It would be the one violin that Kreutzer held most special to him and would retain it throughout his life,” according to auctioneers.

“Celebrated as a violin virtuoso, composer, and teacher, Kreutzer left behind a great body of work including 19 violin concertos and 40 operas.”

Clark lived the last several decades of her life inside Beth Israel Hospital.
