Dolan in launch of food drive

Timothy Cardinal Dolan, who loves raking in food, is now dishing it out.

“The last week in January is when food supplies are low and need to be replenished,” Dolan said yesterday outside St. Patrick’s Cathedral, where he kicked off a hunger drive along with the United Jewish Appeal. “It’s an inspirational and magnificent program.”

After a morning Mass, Dolan stepped outside to put the first cart of food on a large pantry truck parked outside.

“Isn’t this great? Feeding our neighbors,” he said.

“Hey, I’m all about feeding,” Dolan kidded, pointing to his stomach.

Big white boxes for nonperishable food donations will be placed in Catholic parishes in the city and the Hudson Valley.
