HarperCollins to move to former AT&T HQ

Book publishing giant HarperCollins is leaving its longtime Midtown home for 195 Broadway, the former AT&T “wedding cake” headquarters building in the heart of the fast-transforming Financial District.

The deal, which was in the works for months, was nailed down on Friday, downtown sources said. The publisher signed a 15-year lease for 185,000 square feet on four and a half floors in the landmark address. The building is owned by a joint venture of L&L Holding Co. and Beacon Capital Partners. L&L Holding Co. is the managing agent. HarperCollins is a division of News Corp., which also owns The Post.

A brokerage team at CBRE is said to have represented the tenant but no one at the firm responded to requests for comment.

HarperCollins will leave 10 E. 53rd St. in spring 2014. The move is the latest by a major media company from Midtown to the Wall Street area.
